If you are looking for a way to survive your ski vacation, renting a car with winter tyres is the perfect solution.

When it comes to avoiding complications and getting to the destination you’re waiting for safely, it’s best to take care of your rental car by having the best winter tyres for your safety and the safety of those with you.

In our Rent A Car we have multiple vehicles with winter wheels, so that if you want to visit the Alpujarra or Sierra Nevada, you can do so without any problem. Then your car will be ready for it.

Why you need to be renting a car with winter tyres?

Winter tyres are designed to offer optimum traction and grip in cold conditions. They have a softer compound, along with deeper grooves and narrow cuts built into the tread.

These features help disperse water/snow, and allow the rubber to move around, improving contact with the road.

Winter tyres work best at temperatures below 7 deg C. Indeed, they outperform conventional ‘summer’ tyres for traction, cornering grip and braking in such conditions, regardless of whether there is snow or ice.

Having a car prepared with winter wheels allows you:

  • Driving more safely in difficult climates
  • To be able to move to the ski resorts without problems
  • Visiting high points that require some equipment
  • Rent an equipped car at an affordable price

Wich places can you visit by rentig a car with winter tyres?

Get closer to Sierra Nevada while driving your rental car with built-in winter tyres.

While thoughts of southern Spain might conjure up images of sun and sea before snow-covered slopes, don’t be fooled: the Sierra Nevada region of Andalusia is an in-the-know ski bunny’s best-kept secret.

The area marks the southernmost ski resort in Europe, affording visitors gorgeous views of the Mediterranean Sea while they make their ski runs.

Plus, the region’s proximity to Granada also means the chance to easily explore Moorish architecture, cultural activities, and ethnically diverse dining.

Sierra Nevada literally translates to “snowy range,” and it includes some of the highest peaks in all of Europe, granting skiers a lengthy ski season from November to early May.

Best of all, thanks to the region’s southerly location, more than 80 percent of the days here are sunny and blizzard free.

Are there any other options besides winter tyres?

You can use our snow socks, which are large blankets that fit around your normal tyres and give extra grip in snowy conditions.

The good thing about these is that can be installed quickly and easily when the snow falls, unlike winter tyres which have to be fitted for most of the winter or in advance of any snow fall.

However, the downside is that they aren’t as effective as winter tyres, and won’t provide as much grip or traction as a result, that’s why we recommend you to be renting a car with winter tyres.

The same goes for snow chains, although the circumstances in which you can use these are even rarer, the road must be completely covered and protected by a layer of snow and ice, as otherwise they damage the road surface.

Otherwise, you could be liable for a fine. We hope to be helpful and make you enjoy your holidays with a different point of view about winter tyres!
